Hey, I ran into some guy at a gas station who started up a long conversation with me cause of my car. He said he used to have a 6gc and talked about putting a turbo mr2 head on it for some added pony's. I'd just never heard anyone talk about this option, so I was wondering was he spewing crap, or is this actually a viable option?
Sorry, this should have been in the engine/performance section. Mods, feel free to switch it.... -------------------- ![]() |

This option has been talked about for years as far as I've heard. What you are actually doing is making a HYBRID when you do the head swap. The MR2 Turbo has the 3SGTE engine just like the GT-FOUR. Your car has a 5(S)FE engine. It's a S-series engine, same thing goes for the 3(S)GTE. FE = Fuel Efficient. You swap the head and you get a 5(S)GE. The "T" will remain if you keep it turbo'd. But this being a hybrid, you are able to save gas as well as haul ass at the same time. People have done it. Not only do you save gas but you have that extra .2 litres for boost. So I've read. Somebody throw 2 cents.
