18s with no suspension drop, opinions please Options

I know that everyone says 18s look stooopid without a drop but is this always the case (seriously)
Dug out an old magazine article with a 6gc wearing an ereb404 kit, 18s and the standard factory suspension, it looks awesome.
Maybe im basing the majorities opinion on this setup without a bodykit.
Any opinions are gratefully received as this is what i plan to do, also if anyone has any pics of 18s on standard suspension with or without a kit please put them up.

the rims i want are the 18 inch imperas, ive wanted them for ages but theyve always been really expensive, now theyve come down a lot in price
