 lighter, cig lighter not working |

yesterday i was inflating one of my tires with a compressor that plugs into the lighter and all of a sudden it stopped working. i thought it was the compressor but i checked and it wasnt. i also checked the fuse box next to the driver side door but no fuses were blown. any ideas as to why this is not working? i just bought neons and was going to hook them up to it so i need it to work. anything will help

it could be the compressor....my dad's compressor plugs into the cig lighter too and it has an auto shut-off after 10 minutes..
