Dome Lights and Door Lights Always On - Help Options

So I was driving home for winter break and all of a sudden my dome light and the dash light saying a door was open came on. I got off at the next exit and everything was closed. The weird thing is these lights/indicator will randomly go out while I'm driving. I took out the dome light fuse so that my battery won't die.

Any one got ideas on how to fix this? What all will pulling the dome fuse affect while I'm trying to fix this?

shodog: i had this problem today, turned out i didn't slam my hatch hard enough. i always try to think of the easy-to-fix stuff first. so don't hate me if you've already checked that.

Tools: Flat head screwdriver with 1 layer of duct-tape on head (so it doesn't scratch any plastic when you pry with it)
Parts: 2x Tundra Courtesy light lenses (mine were from a 2006 Tundra, Toyota Part Number: 81231-0C010), 2x num194 LEDs (http://autolumination.com/194.htm) the LEDs point directly outward so the 5led matrix is probably not needed.

1. With the car off, open the door.
2. Put the flat-head screwdriver into the side of the courtesy light (i did the one towards the front of the car) and pry the light-housing out.
3. You should be able to pull the lens off of the light housing with your fingers.
4. The light-bulb *probably* isn't too hot to touch (mine were barely warm), so grab it and pull it out.
5. try inserting the num194 LEDs into the socket, if it doesn't light try rotating it 180 degrees (LEDs are sensitive to polarity).

If, after being rotated 180 degrees, the LED still doesn't light make sure the contacts on the leds are touching the contacts in the socket. if they aren't you may need to modify the LED base a litte. The contacts on my LED base were too close together, so i carved some new grooves a little further out from the center with an x-acto knife, and then bent the LED contacts a bit, so they fit the new grooves.

as for the dome our cars use 1 or 2 ba9s "bayonet" bulbs. i think it's 1 if you have the moon-roof and 2 otherwise. but i'm not really sure.
i wasn't able to get good results until i made my own led+resistor series and stuck them into a ba9s base. 3 white leds pointing straight down did the trick.
