ok so my exhaust manifold is leaking again, i thought i had fixed the stud but apparently it came loose.. so now im going to helicoil it.

consequently, i also have another problem on my manifold, 1 of the studs on the turbo side of the manifold has broken off flush with the manifold. i need some help as to how i can get this removed, the stud broke off as i was trying to turn the stud out, so its in there HARDCORE, i dont know if an easy out will work.. the stud broke off flush with the turbo side of the manifold.

ok the backstory aside, i need to take the turbo off in order for this process to be as painless as possible, and the only guide i can find is like mega hardcore removing the turbo.

what id like you guys to tell me is if i am missing anything

(first off, i can keep the oil and coolant lines attatched to the car correct, i just need to disconnect them from the turbo?)

then i have to undo that big bolt that holds the turbo to the frame

then i have to remove all those bolts from the downpipe

then i have to remove all the nuts holding the manifold on

then the turbo and manifold will just come off as one piece, correct?

let me know if im missing anything.. im trying to get this all fixed up before the dyno next weekend.

the problem with trying to remove as little as possible is whether or not you have enough room to work. Some times its just easier to take the long route and take everything off slowly. It sounds like you got all the basics down on how to remove the turbo/manifold.

I know if you want to remove the broken studs, you need to take a drill and drill them out. If our lucky a stud remover will work. If your unlucky you have to just drill the entire broken stud out and retap the hole to put in a new stud.

The last time i had to do this ( on a stock car) i had to remove the radiator to get enought clearance for the drill and drill bit.
