I would like to install a car computer. I need to know about how much it would cost me. I just want to take an old laptop mount it somewhere power it up to a touch screen monitor then somehow rig it so when the car comes on so does the laptop and when the car shuts off so does the laptop. I also want GPS. I know its a big under taking but i have high hopes on how sweet it would look. I posted in pittfire's theard but he hasn't been around in a couple days so i made my own topic. -cnelson.

Ok, first question. Does your screen fit good? Next question. If i have that indash screen how would i be able to keep my head unit? I mean if i have to use an amplifer i have to no big deal really. Nex thing about the battery; Somone said that if i run a laptop and everything else at the same time that'll take so much power i'll have to have a high-end battery and a really good alternator to charge the battery. I don't know if this is true or not? Also so upgraded space i'm just going to use a external harddrive probably. And buy a laptop with like 512 or 1gb of ram should be fine. But how can i keep the radio? I know i would need that card but is there anyway to hook that car up to a laptop like a PCI slot on the outside somehow? Thanks for all the help. -cnelson. If i was going to shot by like; april to have this done is that possible?
