Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and personally I don't own a Toyota. But several of my friends do so here is where my doubts began. Well I have 2 friends each one with a Toyota Curren (identical) 94/96 (same as Celica) with 5 speed manual and 3S-GE engine. I think that engine in the 6th gen has about 170bhp. My question is: why one of them has a 6000 redline and 6200 rev limiter (it starts to turn red at 6krpms) and the other one has the same tach but at 7000 redline and 7200 rev limiter. The one with 6krpms has till 8rpms in the tach and the other has till 9rpms. I was surprised particulary with the one with 7.2krpms rev limiter because in all of the celicas I saw on the internet them usually had 6200rpms and 5800rpms on MT and AT repectivaly I think...

So before watchin the 7.2krpms rev limiter (and watchin the internet pictures of celicas) I bet my friend that he was lying to me!!! (it was for a Bacardi!!! hehe) so when I saw it i couldn't believe it (and of course it's not turbo). Anyone knows why is this??? I couldn't find any logical answer yet! hope u guys help me...

One more thing. The guy with the 7.2 race to a '91 4A-GZE from a stop and lost!!! (Trueno pull him about 2 cars eventhough he started later!) and I saw specs of both and them both had about the same bhp and weight...

All of these cars are bone stock btw.

Thanks!!!

3sge engines are the standard for most over seas 6th gen GT models. Here in the states, we recieved the 5sfe engine for our GT's.

You should see a 7k-7.2k redline on a non-beams 3sge.
