Hey culpable

I'm not exactly sure you are correct about the HID's. They may infact be physically hotter than stock bulbs but your argument doesn't hold. The 6000K reference is "color temperature" and not physical temperature.

"Technically, color temperature refers to the temperature to which one would have to heat a theoretical "black body" source to produce light of the same visual color."

Which is this case means nothing. See this article.

Later all!

this is taken from the articule you just post

Technically, color temperature refers to the temperature to which one would have to heat a theoretical "black body" source to produce light of the same visual color.

the temperature is the heat need to produce the color, for example, in a fire you can see diferent color depending on the temp of it, the regular yellow is the coldest point of heat and as you increase the oxigen charge to a fire the flames will turn in the following order yellow to green to blue and some gases can burn colorless ( methanol )

an HID kit has novel gases inside the bulb that react with the electricity ( acting as heat source ) to produce the color of choice.

that's the way I think it is, probably I'm wrong so any other info is well taken.
