FL Studio 6, any one use it?? Options

Any one else out there use Fruity Loops Studio 6?? I got the program from my buddy. Its like a $600 music making program. Its sooo freakin hard to use, but its sooo freakin sweet. Ive made some pretty good dance beats so far, but im gonna try and make some more rap beats for my buddy. Hes a good rapper, good at writing lyrics, but cant make beats.

Any one else out there use the program/have any hints for making music?

I've messed around with Fruity Loops before. I think its easiest to lay down a good bass line and then add things in from there. my order i usually go in is

1. Bass line
2. something a little higher than the bass line (something not annoying)
3. other things for some fine tuning.

Ive been pretty happy with what i come up with using that method.
