I have instralled a Magnaflow straight thru muffler and have not replaced the tail pipe(going along with the 1 3/4" i already have. The sound increse is not significantly noticeble since i still have the resonator sitting betwen the cat n the muffler. However i get a subtle growl at high rev.
I am considering replacing the tail pipe with the 2 1/4" one and removing the resonator. However, i am scared that it would sound too loud. I dont want an undesierable "noise" and would prefer to have a loud growl....
Anybody done such a thing....how did it sound...

Make sure the catback piping is mandrel bent and not crush bent. Mandrel meaning it keeps the same diameter throughout the length of the piping, crush meaning it's basically stuck into a visegrip and bent by hand. You can easily tell the difference not only in the look, but in sound and performance.
