 DIY Shift Light, Maybe not completely |

I'm wanting to put a shift light in my car, but I'm not exactly sure what to go for. Stock tach is great for me. In fact, I have a big preference for making things look as stock as possible. What I am thinking about is someone just hooking up a couple LEDs infront of the steering wheel so they are easily seen by me but not others. Anyone know anything about this DIY shift light stuff? Seems like I could tap into something that would send a signal at a certain rpm without paying $50 for it.

id jsut buy a cheap ebay one and take it apart to place the leds where ever.

As long as it's acturate, it will work. What I would like is to make a device to tell me what gear the car is in, and that's pretty easy to set up. And also have a top limit and bottem limit.
