There's an auction I need to win tonight but I really don't want to stay up 'til 2:00am to do it (this early time change is already killing me.)

im confused...he needs to win an auction...what does that have to do with staying up until 2am if he has a max bid up?

Its important because you can set a max bid now, but if someone outbids you, you don't have the chance to think of re-bidding. That happened to me with a shift knob. I set my max bid and went to sleep, only to find that someone outbid me in the middle of the night and won. (I still got the knob, but thats a whole other story  )I guess what its all about is control. You want control over the auction.
