This is pissing me off to the point to where I almost want to just cut the cables and figure it out after i pull the engine/tranny out..the picture is below..the last time i took out a tranny there was a bracket that held the cables to the transmission that I just had to unbolt, the celica doesn't have that..it looks like there is a nut to spin, but it doesn't seem to do anything. (by the way) does anyone want some JDM tails for a celica hatchback? I have the convertible and they don't fit..i'll ship them to your door..$280 obo..

you are doing it wrong, it's easy.
there is a "C" clip holding it in. You can see the top of it from your pic. Just get a pair of vise grips or plyers and pull it strait up (you may want to wiggle it side to side a bit and spray some PB Blaster on it) and the clip will come out. Then the cable just comes right off the bracket. the same clips hold the cables to the shifter arms of the tranny, so you have 4 in total I believe. -------------------- |
