i dont see why you guys are so worked up over this video.. Engines are designed to rev all the way up to redline. Reving it like that should not damage the engine at all. I'm not saying it is good for the motor. but it should not be a big deal.

It is designed to do that UNDER LOAD. Free rev'ing will kill a motor pretty fast. It'd be cool if the dude was on the street (or track! ) doing that - but in the garage is just stupid. Most new cars have significanly lower rev limits when the car isn't moving/under load for just that reason (like 4500rpm on a 7000rpm capable motor).

Exactly.
Revving an engine under no load [or on start up] is asking to spin a bearing...
Oil pressure can't keep up for one thing....
