Okay so here's the deal. Right now I have a '94 Celica GT that I love. There are alot of things I would like to do to it, but there is a problem that I need to solve first. Here is the problem... my celica has about 204,000 miles on it and everything seems to be running great still, but I know it's gonna be time soon to start replacing stuff, like shocks, brakes, blah blah, and I'm not quite sure what all will need to be replaced. So my question to you is, should I keep my celica and just replace the things that will need to be replaced and what would those things be, or get one with less miles on it?

Hey man, good to see you on the site again. Haven't talked to you since the meet. Well, I'll tell you what I'm doing. My celica's got just over 217K now, and I was wondering the same thing as you. I could sell it for more than I bought it for, and then get another one. But I ended up a few months ago finding a 97 5s with under 10K on it for $500. And I got the whole suspension (front and back) from the same car. So that's my summer project, along with painting it, and I'll have an almost new car. In your case, I think it all depends on what you want from the car. If you've got plans for an eventual 3s swap, then just start saving and when the engine goes, you can just replace it with that. With a 3s you'd probably want to upgrade brakes and axles anyway, so that would solve your whole problem. If you don't have those plans, and just love the styling of the celica, consider saving up and getting another. Cause for the price of a 3s plus the money you'd get from selling your car, you could probably get a pretty nice one. Just my 2 cents. Let me know how it goes.

You know, about 30 seconds after I posted this, I knew someone was gonna say that lol.

But really though, I'm don't know enough to do an engine swap. But I don't know where to have it done at? And if I'm gonna do a swap, what stuff should I replace still?

I thought the exact same thing when I read that post. =] I was going to say something similar, but I was beaten to it. kindasad.gif What you do is when your ready, you come down to my place and we put it in. I'd love to do that. =] We've got every tool you'd ever need, and I've done a few engines swaps before. (although no 3s yet) The best way to go is a front clip. Then you'll probably have everything you need. If you just buy an engine and tranny, you'll probably want better(or at least new) axles and brakes to handle the power. Maybe slotted rotors. But that's not absolutely necessary, just depends on how much you want to spend on the car. By the way, is it a GT, or ST? If it's ST you'll need some other stuff as well. I think if you've got the money, get a new celica. But if extra cash is tight, which I'm guessing it is, wink.gif just fix up this one.
