Since my swap, I have done all oil changes except one on my car.
The one exception was done by a toyota dealer. When I go to the toyota parts dept for oil filter they have always given me the same oil filter as 5sfe. Even when they did the oil change themselve they used the same one for 5sfe. The very first time I made sure they understood the filter is for a 3sgte motor and they told me its the same filter. But for the first time today at a different dealer, the parts dept told me the filter is different. Now I just want to have a confirmation from you guys regarding this. I have just checked online and the part numbers are indeed different but I want to know from you guys.
Is the oil filter for the 3sgte different from 5sfe?
thanks
b

Buy the claw style oil filter removal tool that hooks up to a standard ratchet or air tool. It works perfectly.

Lexus and toyota have a special service tool that fits over the filters perfectly. Its used for the new filter element housings.
