down pipe question, ?????????? what is this thing???????????? Options

whats the whole perpose of a down pipe? and whats that metal thread on it for? my car is not turbo charged but yet its got this on it looks like a turbo down pipe.... can i just cut it off and run straight pipe in its place?

Oxygen sensor on the top and EGT sensor for the main catalytic converter or wideband O2 sensor at the bottom.

You are probably talking about a catalytic converter.

so ur saying my car has 2 cause theres one by the exhaust manifold antheres one along the exhaust pipe under my car where it has that threaded section
