So I am starting to compile many things in the Celica that use my cigarette lighter (Ipod, cell phone, etc.) and so I started looking for a multi-outlet cigarette thing to use instead. Does anyone have one of these? My thoughts were to mount it inside the center console next to the shifter (probably velcro it to the inside wall there)and then cut off the plug and splice it into the back of the factory cigarette lighter for power. My question is, do you think my placement idea might cause it to overheat and fail?

I have mine hard wired to the cigarette lighter, but runs out the side and under my seat.. makes it easy to unplug and plug devices in.
