i was reading about how fast the world consumes fossil fuels, and it has been estimated that we will run out of oil in 20 years.
so what are you gonna do when gas is 10 dollars a gallon, or when we are out of gas? |

i'm interested in buying a diesel car or truck and converting it to run on vegetable oil. i've been toying around with the idea since i started my degree (mech. eng.) because an improved system would make a great senior project.
i've also considered trying to convert an engine to run on ammonia, but the idea is stuck on paper at the moment. ammonia burns slower than gasoline, so the timing and valvetrain would have to be revised for it to work right....unlike biodiesel, which is more or less plug-and-play. from my perspective, the hydrogen fuel-cell car is the future. if and when big oil companies are forcibly prevented from stuffing their fat corporate pockets with this country's money by the government, there is plenty of room to establish a production and distribution network for hydrogen, and further experimentation and research can provide improvements to the supercapacitors and storage systems that are required but currently underdeveloped. big oil is the biggest road block atm, because it would cost them alot of money to start working with hydrogen instead of petroleum...and big automakers aren't far behind, because they want to make as few improvements as they can and keep selling cars. -------------------- ![]() do you know who i am, mr. worley? |
