when i start my 97 5sfe engine : sometimes it revs up and then just stalls , and other times it idls on very low RPM when it is supposed to be high ! and i had to press the gas pedal and rev it a lil bit untill it gets to normal .........whats wrong with it ? what can i do to maintina my engine and what kind of additives should i use to keep my engine running smoothly ....

Ok , thanks , can someone provide me with a link to a detailed how-to clean my idle air control valve ??? i dont have much experience so i need a lot of details

I live in the UK, no doubt the stuff we use over here might not be available in the states? You could use an alchohol based solution to clean it, so Methalated Spirit or whit spirit or whatever its called where you are? It might not work but its worth a try? If it is the Idle Control Valve that's faulty, you might be better off replacing it altogether?
