So over the weekend I spent about 17 hours installing new springs (Eibach 1.5's) Shocks (GR2's) and sway bars (ST). It's easy once you know what to do, but the sounds coming out of the car are horrendous. The rear clicks, pops, and feels like the whole back end is gonna fall off when I go over a bump, like the shocks aren't doing their job or the springs coming loose or something. The front used to make clunks when I turned, but that was fixed by realigning the "out" arrow with the steering knuckle bracket. It now makes some noises on the freeway, and also when you push down on the car. It creaks when you do that. Also, I didn't have to compress the rear springs to reassemble the strut. Meaning, I could turn it slightly when it was in the car, while it was raised. Obviously it doesn't turn with the weight on it, but over a bump could it be coming loose? When I took the stock rears off, the springs were compressed, and I was unable to move them. Am I missing a washer somewhere? I didn't see any when I took the strut assembly apart. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks VPHMC - it looks like you know what you are talking about. Unfortunately there is a void between my knowledge and your descriptions. Could you explain further.
- The "rubber seating part top and bottom" - where exactly? Is this between the spring and where the groove in strut and the strut mount accept the spring or is this the top mount? - The "top knuckle type part" - is this where the inside spindle of the strut attaches to the strut mount? - The metal spacer - is this placed between the strut spindle and the mount or between the nut and the rubber top of the strut mount? Apologies for the questions - I am familiar on how to remove the strut assembly and compress the springs. I just want to be happy with the descriptions and what to look for when it is detached. Thanks again ![]() |
