Ok, I have a power acoustik 980 watt plasma sphere amp (part # TS980-2... I think). Its hooked up to 2 kicker comp subs. Today I was listening to it at medium volume (not even close to the loudest I've ever had it) and the LED went from green to red. I'm pretty sure the subs didnt blow. There was no loud noise, It just stopped working. The amp wasnt hot at all so it didnt overheat. Is there some way to reset it or something. I've turned my car off and let it sit. I disconnected the power cable from my battery and the LED is still red which the manual says stands for "protect". I checked the fuses (by eye, not with a meter) and they seemed ok. Can anyone help me out with this? Is there a trick to get it working? What should I do?

Thanks for all your help

Well my subs and speakers all sound better than they ever have this morning after working on my car until 2:00 in the morning. I finally got my refurbished sony deck back from sony, and I put it in and still there was very little sound, so I thought it might just be something with sony decks... So I bought a kenwood deck to test it... turns out it wasnt sony. I always had static in my speakers, and weird noises. So I thought I had seen something in the forums about a factory amp. Sure enough the guys at best buy just left it hooked up to the deck. Well after doing a little bit of thinking, this may have been the problem. The speakers were getting a lot of power, and were really loud, while the subs were still very quiet. Anyway moral of the story... IF YOU HAVE A FACTORY AMP AND ARE INSTALLING AN AFTERMARKET STEREO, UNHOOK THE AMP!!.

Oh and also, my old amp and Sony refurbished deck will prolly be up for grabs soon if anyone wants them.
