hey all, i was looking online at some 3sgte clips and noticed how much cheaper the mr2t clips are then the gt4 clips that and i wouldn't have to get the tranny separate.
i know that there are some things diff between the gt4 3sgte and the mr2 3sgte. my Q is how much will have to be changed to drop it in my car? i have the gt so (from what i understand) i won't need to change the motor mounts. but other than the normal 3sgte swap stuff what extra will be needed to put the mr2 motor in?
if there is a thread about this already and someone know where it is please point me in the right direction.
thanks guys

I honestly did not notice much of a difference between the s54 and the e153 trannys. Then again my s54 was with a 5sfe and my e153 is linked to a 3's so obviously the top end power is different, and maybe that is why I do not notice the difference in transmissions as much. I would agree that the s54 is shorter geared, and you do burn through gears quicker, but it also increases your acceleration. I thought it was a good combo for a stock gt (short tranny gears w/ low end tq)

I'm sure a lot of it also depends on the final drive on the transmission. An MR2 E153 will have very similar gearing to the Celica GT tranny, a Camry E153 (or FWD converted GT4 transmission) will be more 'lazy'.

I really enjoy my E153 - though I'd still rather have lower gearing... I'd rather cruise at 75mph on the freeway at 3krpm instead of 3.5krpm. Heck, I was at 3krpm at 80mph with my original S51 manual transmission. smile.gif
