i need to get some advice on drilled + slotted rotors.
from what i've read on here before it seems like slotted is good. but cross-drilled is bad (leads to cracking allot) i've been warping rotors allot. so i think i should try to upgrade to better ones. my mechanic says he found some that are cross-drilled and slotted, and have a lifetime warranty. i think they cost something like a 120usd per rotor. lifetime warranty alone sounds worth the money. is there any chance that the cross-drilling isn't going to lead to the rotors cracking? also, do performance brake rotors wear your brake pads down quicker? thanks in advance ny |

cross dilled and/or slotted is help against brake fade. Brake fade is expirenced usually while course racing or cayon carving due to high speed braking. Since brakes work by causing friction, which causes heat, the fuild can get really hot and maybe even boil.
So to solve this, some use slotted/drilled rotors to disspense heat better. Odds are you'll prob never expirence brake fade on your daily driver, so the rotors are really just for looks. -------------------- NASA/SCCA RX-7....currently under the knife
