my engin light comes on sometimes then other times its off i took it to auto zone the say car is to old to connect comp. to they say i need to spen bout 75 for a diag. im not going to spend that much just to find it was an oxegen senser....witch is what i think it is car runs great....also has an open exahust if that makes a diff...if any one has info to what i could be plz tell so i can get on it i hate seeing engin lights

Don't mess with the timing yet.
Jumping TE1 and E1 will not harm the car. It'll just put the ECU in diagnostic mode. That means, any stored error code in ECU memory will show up. 91 is octane rating of gasoline. The higher the number, the more difficult it is to self ignited. Higher octane helps prevent detonation. I'm sure you will do fine with 87 on 5sfe. http://www.btinternet.com/~madmole/Reference/RONMONPON.html OBD = On Board Diagnostics 94-95 6th gen Celica is OBD I 96+ 6th gen Celica is OBD II They have different interfaces. If your car is OBD II, you need to use an OBD II code reader/scanner to read malfunction code. There is a port to plug in the reader under the steering column.
