Hello my 94 celica GT has gone from running *only* at idle to not firing at all it is dead in the water. I have checked for spark and fuel both are there. I even installed new fuel injectors with no luck. So I am wondering if the MAP sensor can act like this when it goes out?
-I tried reading the codes after changing the fuel injectors and what I got was constant blinking check engine light, which I don't believe means anything. Then I disconected the Map sensor and hooked it back up and tried to start the vehicle with no luck and did the code reading one more time. This time I got a 31 which I believe is related to the MAP sensor, now I don't know if I got the code because I had just disconnected it and hooked it back up or if it is the problem???? ANy thoughts.... -Also they are very expensive so I was hoping to pick up a test sensor or two out of a junkyard, now I need to know what years and models of vehicles Toyota made that would have this same sensor? I know I won't find any 94 celicas in our junkyard, maybe a few of there trucks?????? THanks guys |

^^ wow dude, calm down a little.
anyway, as I said before, if it were a fuel or spark problem, it's unlikely that they would all go out at the same time, so you would simply have a misfire and be running on 3 cylinders. your problem sounds more like all the cylinders are being affected. it could be a distributor because that gives spark to all cylinders. to check if you have spark pull all of the plug wires (so the car won't start) and spark plugs and stick one of the plugs into a spark wire the way it would go in, then holding the wire at the rubber top, place the threads of the plug against somewhere on your chassis (or any ground) next have someone else crank the engine. what I was told (and you might wanna double check this) that a blue spark is a good thing, an orange spark is too weak to ignite everything, and no spark at all obviously means you have no spark. try this test in all the plug wires to see how your spark is on all your cylinders. if you don't have any or just a weak one on one or two cylinders then I would look at plugs, wires, cap, and rotor. if you have none or weak on all cylinders then check the distributor or igniter. -------------------- ![]() 94 GT - Sold -------- 69 Pontiac Lemans - Sold 88 Alltrac - Sold ---- 04 WRX - Sold 00 GT-S - Sold ------ 91 Miata - project/drift car 95 GT - Sold -------- 96 GT - New Daily Drive |
