Hello my 94 celica GT has gone from running *only* at idle to not firing at all it is dead in the water. I have checked for spark and fuel both are there. I even installed new fuel injectors with no luck. So I am wondering if the MAP sensor can act like this when it goes out?
-I tried reading the codes after changing the fuel injectors and what I got was constant blinking check engine light, which I don't believe means anything. Then I disconected the Map sensor and hooked it back up and tried to start the vehicle with no luck and did the code reading one more time. This time I got a 31 which I believe is related to the MAP sensor, now I don't know if I got the code because I had just disconnected it and hooked it back up or if it is the problem???? ANy thoughts.... -Also they are very expensive so I was hoping to pick up a test sensor or two out of a junkyard, now I need to know what years and models of vehicles Toyota made that would have this same sensor? I know I won't find any 94 celicas in our junkyard, maybe a few of there trucks?????? THanks guys |

THanks for the apology, I started a new post as I wanted to start fresh at the Map sensor and I didn't want to confuse people with my spark plug issue. I didn't install the right plugs, (my bad I am new to toyota) I have that particular issue solved. Sorry if my posts seem to jump around and aren't very detailed. I actually am a fairly experienced mechanic, but have never owned a toyota. I already did all the basics before posting here, like distributor cap, plugs, wires, fuel filter etc. I didn't mention that as that is common sense to me. I have built multiport injected turbo cars, done full frame restorations. I just was looking for particular issues related to (toyotas) that I may not know of and new ideas that I am not thinking of to try. The MAP sensor was something new to try. I appreciate all ideas from everyone but please don't be insulting. *It is hard to know who you are dealing with over the internet* and without talking to them directly there can be plenty of miscommunication. I have masters degree in education.. I am not an idiot......I treat everyone with respect and expect the same from those I associate with. Sorry for the double post.... I'll let you guys know what happens after I try the different distributor.... Thanks for your help!!!!!!!!
