Did a quick search, but couldnt find the answer I'm looking for. Sorry if I missed it.
I'm looking at replacing my alt, but dont know which one I should be looking for. Car is a 98 chassis with a jdm 93 mr2 engine. I know the mr2 mounting brackets are different from the 5sfe's, but is the actual part different? When I call the shop should I be asking for an alt for a 98 celica (5sfe motor) or for a 93 mr2? you can remove the alt, and take it to any car parts store. they will put it on their bench tester and test it for free.
different alts may look the same, but the harness plugs dont match up. so if you were to buy a 5sfe alt, you would need to have a 5s plug soldered on. but like i said before, if you look up the part number, and replace it with the same thing, then it will all be just plug and play. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned
