so my radiator cracked and i'm looking for a new one. but had a couple questions
For those using the all aluminum racing radiator (R1958), how many of you actually changed the thermostat/water pump (whatever else is needed) to achieve lower temps? Koyo also makes an OE replacement (A1575) that has a copper core and plastic tank. does anyone have this? is this as thick as the all aluminum one? and i'm just deciding on which to get. i read a few old posts and it seems like most people with the R1958 all alum radiator don't change anything else, so it seems like they aren't taking advantage of the better cooling anyway. so i'm wondering if i should just get the OE replacement one for about 1/2 price. (i will be going 5sfte soon) -------------------- |

think about it, your radiator took like 10 years to crack, so if you just get an oem replacement, it probably won't crack for another 10 years.
btw, I am using the canton racing 90 degree rotating adaptor. if you are going to use it and an aftermarket downpipe, be sure to get some 45* or 90* hose ends or AN to NPT adaptors in order to keep your lines from hitting the downpipe. -------------------- ![]() 94 GT - Sold -------- 69 Pontiac Lemans - Sold 88 Alltrac - Sold ---- 04 WRX - Sold 00 GT-S - Sold ------ 91 Miata - project/drift car 95 GT - Sold -------- 96 GT - New Daily Drive |
