so i needed new brake pads on the rear of my car. on one side the brakes taht i changed were still like new., but i went ahead and changed taht one no problem at all. but when i got to the side i knew needed the brakes, i went to get the bolt off to move the caliper, and the bolt snapped.

i believe the tabs are just wear indicators, like when the pads wears to that point, the squeek against the rotor lettin ya know its time for new pads
