QUOTE(Dragondog @ Jul 27, 2007 - 1:42 PM) i dont know where these things are or what they look like I got this off a corolla forum.... Just copy and paste, it helped me find mine which is the ufo looking thing in the middle top engine part closest to my windshield ":Maybe a little late, considering when the original post was. Anyway, the EGR valve is in the back of the engine, towards the windshield wipers. You'll see what's been described as a "UFO looking" object. That is the EGR Vacuum Modulator. Follow the left (as you're looking at it) vacuum hose and it goes down towards the EGR valve. The EGR valve is actually mounted on the engine, about 6" or so below the EGR Vacuum Modulator. Hope this helps!!" I am having the same 71 CEL code on my car, but the weird part is that it comes on them dims off! I didnt think the car would 'remember' the code, but sure enough I have the OBD1 and it came up 7-1. I am going to try to clean mine out today, reset the battery and see if that helps...
