okay i changed my clutch and when i popped out the transaxles dexron 3 fluid(pinkish color) came out. i was expecting gear oil (green brownish color with rotten egg smell) to come out. i have a 95 gt manual. and when i read the repair manual i bought it said my year transmission take 75w-90 gear oil not dexron 3. if remeber correctly dexron 3 is for automatic tranny's. also i read that the 89 and below celica tranny's took the dexron 3 and the 90 and up tranny's took the 75w-90 gear oil.......................
do you think the previous owner swapped it to the 89's and below tranny????? ![]() ![]() or do you think i should drain my tranny and put in 75w-90 gear oil like the manual recommends???? someone help or clear my head ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() i was too confused to put 75w-90 gear oil in or not.........so i just placed new dexron 3 back in. ![]() This post has been edited by 808celica: Sep 17, 2007 - 6:10 AM -------------------- I don't normally drive fast, but when I do its on a curvy section of this island

if your car truly has a 5sfe with the S54 tranny than i would run the gear oil.. maybe the owner put in "tranmission fluid" not knowing a manual tranny takes gear oil...
