So I installed the ST205 shifter cables I had on order, and it appears that the metal cup on the right cable that snaps onto the bottom of the interior shifter assembly is way too big. Is this really so?
The clip on either side even passes right around the ball on the end of the stock shifter, which really suprised me as to how much larger the ST205 cup is than the ST204. Does anybody have any answers as to how they made it work on their stock shifter?? I'm really suprised...and I'd prefer to not have to McGuyver it into working. I searched up and down on multiple sites and I haven't heard a single other person mention this issue...very odd, unless I'm having a blonde moment or something. Thanks ahead of time. ![]() -------------------- 3rd gen ST205 3SGTE - Alive and boosting. |

Haha....I'm just an idiot, I was really tired last night and realized a little while after I posted that I didn't pop off the nylon nut from the old cables to put in the metal cup on the ST205 cables. Hence, it was metal on metal and I should have known better right away.
I'm such a silly n00b. ![]() So to clear up any confusion, there are NO fitment issues when using the ST205 cables on the stock ST204/AT200 shifter assy., however they are only going to work properly with an E-series transmission application. I am using an E153 from a 2000 Toyota Camry V6 not an S54, so using these cables makes sense for me so I don't have to customize the shifter cable bracket on the transmission to accept GT cables. Besides, my stock cables were bent so ST205 cables were a smarter solution anyway. -------------------- 3rd gen ST205 3SGTE - Alive and boosting. |
