Is it safe running an aluminum flywheel on a N/A 5SFE or a slightly (7-8psi) boosted 5sfe? I know there have been claims of them flying apart in turbo engines and was just curious.

Has anyone installed the Fidanza aluminum (or any aluminum) flywheel and noticed a difference? I think ours is 18lbs and the Fidanza I believe is 10lbs.

Just wondering if this is a worthwhile mod. comments?

I've heard mixed feelings about aluminum flywheels... They heat up and expand, causing lots of problems.

I believe BigMeanBulldog sent his fidanza through his transmission... basically stock 5S-FE.

I don't know of anyone else who really makes flywheels for us, but I know there is some company (I'll get the name tonight) that shaves the OEM flywheel for you. I want to say its like "Loco Motor Racing" or something like that. You send them your flywheel, they shave it down, and send it back. You get back a 9-10lb flywheel.
