Do these two motors have the same internals? (pistons, rods, etc) I am asking because I know someone giving away a 1st gen 3SGE. Would the internals be able to hold up to an aftermarket turbo setup?

I see, the bore and stroke are the same but the compression is a bit higher than the turbo. Sad to say the first gen 3S has as much HP as my 5SFE
Say you were going to rebuild an engine and add a turbo and your choices were a 86-89 3SGE and a 90-95 5SFE, which would you choose? Wouldn't the "GE" have greater results? Correct me if I am wrong (seriously) but I can throw in some 3SGTE pistons and keep the rods and crank the same which would give the same specs as a 1st gen 3SGTE? Are the heads the same? SORRY FOR ALL THE QUESTIONS, I JUST DO NOT WANT TO MISS OUT ON A CHANCE FOR A FREE ENGINE (WITH POSSIBLE POTENTIAL!) This post has been edited by cv7713: Oct 24, 2007 - 8:31 AM |
