Sup ppl. Does anyone here have any experiance welding steel?
i'm the kinda of guy that likes to learn new things every day, and today, i want to learn welding.

Is there something that i NEED to know about it? Are there certain tricks to it? Am i supposed to do it a certain way?

yea go to a trade or technical school. you wont be able to just pick up a welder toss on a mask and weld perfect beads the 1st day, it takes months of getting it tuned in properly and learning where the heat and wire speed settings need to be. how long to hold a bead down and what kind of weld is needed for what application. I was thinking of becoming I-Car certified as a welder, but i figure its pointless untill i get into a position where id be welding at a company... which i dont see happening soon... but theres always a possability. and dont use the wire that supposedly works without gas, its crap, get a good lincoln welder with innert gas, they work well. also if you try doing MIG on aluminum you wont get anywhere, ever. you have to go TIG, which isnt too much more difficult, just takes more practice. also a good way to learn about welding and cutting metal is to play around with an ascetyline torch for a while.
