 Bimetal Vacuum Valve, I broke it |

While replacing my water temp sender, I broke off the bottom piece of the valve. Top tube is still attached. Will this affect driving? What does it even do?

wow... aftermarket one from autozone $65! seriously, $4 at the local junk yard...
or $.99 for a roll of electrical tape... lol  nice
