ok. I am doing a engine swap and I was not able to get off the drivers side axle. So I decided to just leave it on and remove the engine. Well I was able to get the engine out but I thore the axle boot. I went through autozone and they keep on giving me the wrong boot cover.
I think I will go to the dealer and get the right one. I took the tranny off the gt engine and I still cant get the drivers side axle off. I pull and pull and nothing. What can be wrong. help ![]() -------------------- ![]() |

It is a pain to get out, there is a clip on the inside of the transmission. The first time a friend and I tried to get one out, we yanked on it for over an hour with no luck.
You need to go to autozone and rent an axle puller. It is free to rent, they just make you leave a $80 deposit that you will get back when you return it. It is simply a slide hammer, and will have a FWD axle attachment. It took less than 5 minutes after that. Axle puller/slide hammer: ![]() FWD axle adapter that comes with it: ![]() Oh, and if it was me, I'd just buy a whole new axle since they can be found for around $70 at advance autoparts. |
