i have ubuntu 7.10 installed. i need help with my display settings.
the refresh rate seems to be stuck at 60htz. i need help changing this to 85, in xorg.conf the other problem is that i installed the ati driver through the installer app, but my xorg file still reports a generic vesa driver. how do i force it to use the ati one? -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

its possible, but as with anything linux, it probably wont be easy. hopefully jason will pop in here with an idea. he's the linux guru, and im just learning.
![]() i finally managed to get compiz working. its awesome! its great to see how fast all these 3d effects can work, compared to how slow they run in vista. ive tried many distros over the years, and this is probably the first time that i actually feel like i have something thats better then windows. but.. in all honesty, linux still has a long way to go before its ready for the mainstream. simple things like setting graphics drivers, monitor rez, even simple networking are still a pain in the ass to get working. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned
