I will tell you what every real experienced biker will tell you
get a ninja 250..... its not much, its not gsxr fast, its not the sexiests out there. you can pick one up for $2000 or so and LEARN how to ride.. ride that for a season or so, get the skills down and experience on a bike under your belt, then sell it and get yourself a new bike. these are a few BIG things to remember a) don't go looking for a "fast" bike new bike, you will wreck, you will mess it up b) don't get anything over 600cc if you chose to ignore my previous paragraph c) don't go out expecting to show off to your friends and do wheelies/burn outs <---you will end up dead d) take a riding class, Apex or whatever they have local for you e) get on a local bike forum and see if they have "adopt a noobie" which is where normally an experienced responsible rider will take you on, teach you some needed things, take you out on a ride ect. to help you become a safe/responsible/mature rider.
