i have ubuntu 7.10 installed. i need help with my display settings.

the refresh rate seems to be stuck at 60htz. i need help changing this to 85, in xorg.conf
the other problem is that i installed the ati driver through the installer app, but my xorg file still reports a generic vesa driver. how do i force it to use the ati one?

tell me about it, fedora 5 could not get my drivers for wireless to work if my life depended on it, although i will have to say that if anyone has used backtrax 2 for wireless learning/hacking (legal lab work) that it is without a doubt the best disk distro as it has drivers for a very popular driver card 3945abg that microsoft makes, and it works like a dream. Im hoping that i can get compiz on eventually and make people think im on vista and then be like nope its linux and watch their faces smile.gif
