hello guys,
found out why i was loosing coolant. they said it's going into the engine, 'cause i have a cracked head gasket. instead of just changing the gasket i'm thinking about getting the engine rebuilt. my budget is $1500. what should i do? what type of rebuilt stuff (p&p, heads, cams, etc.) or is there another engine you guys would recommend (except for 3sgte).

thanks in advance,

p.s i'm trying to get this done in a week so i really need your advice quick.

has anyone here had their 5sfe rebuilt? what did you guys do to it? shaved the heads?p/p? anything? when i buy the used engine, i still want to get it rebuilt so that it's like new but before it goes in the bay, should i have a shop do anything special to it while it's out other than the ordinary rebuild?

with 1500$ your not going to be able to do much more than a "normal" rebuild.
for like 600$ more tho, you could have a built 5s bottom end done by MCS with cp forged pistons, 3s rods (the weak point of the 5sfe) (they grind the 5s rod journals to accept the 3s rods) and a fully balanced bottom end.
throw on a new metal headgasket, oil & waterpump ect, and your head, and your good for just about as much boost as you want to run.
