So, ive tried, and tried, and TRIED! to get a big canadian meet going. Only 2 semi big meets we have had was the GTA meet earlier in the summer where 5 ppl came out, and the thanks giving GTA meet where again...5 cars came out. Any ways, i wanna do this right. I know this will probably get moved to the meets/events section, but im posting it here any ways because im trying to get some ideas of where to have it, when to have it and if people would actually come.
So, we need to figure out some where thats convient to have it where we can have enough room for how ever many cars to come, some thing to do besides just hang out in a parking lot, and some where that we can spend more then a day there. I pretty much wanna do the whole CSP and DWG thing but canadian. Im thinkin that we should either do it in Montreal, or Quebec city. My reasoning for that is so that we can get people from all over ontario, quebec and the east coast to come out, aswell as be close enough to the boarder to have people from the U.S. to come up too. They are big enough cities, there will easily be some where to have the meet, plenty of places to stay for a decent price, lots to do around town, and some nice drives just outside of town. When? im thinking we should have it begginging of summer or mid summer. Sometime when people can enjoy the weather. What to do? i think depending on where we end up, we should go for a cruise. If we go to Quebec City, maybe do a cruise through the old city, out of town and up to Mt St. Anne? Montreal...i donno cuz last time i was there i was 12 and dont really remember alot about the trip. But i seriously wanna have a big big meet. Im thinking if people dont wanna drive alone, we can do a kind of convoy along the way. Pick people up as we go. Like it would stat off with me, sarah and maybe Mike, if he comes in Windsor, then we would drive up the 401, pickup any one in london area, drive down the 403 and pickup any one along the way, drive up to kitchener and pickup the few members we have there, into toronto meet up with who evers coming, then stop along the way as we need to untill we all get to either montreal or quebec city. I think it would b crazy having like 20 celicas driving down the highway for like 6 hours one right after the other. This could easily easily work, all we need is some support. I can even see if i can talk to any of my friends in the industry and maybe get them to sponsor the canadian sector of 6gc and see if we can get some prizes/merchandise for people. What do you guys think?? Official list of people supporting this idea: 1. Bryan *Valo666* 2. Sarah *Keroppi* This post has been edited by Valo666: Dec 4, 2007 - 1:41 PM |

Hello folks I know I got a little carried away in writing but... try to bare with me as it may be helpful. I've appared to lost my account, but none of you would really know of me anyways.
First let me properly introduce myself, though this may not be the right thread.. but I will go back on topic. The name is Danny/Viet. Either or Komodo is fine. I was once a member here about a year ago, contemplating to buy a 6gc as well. Now I'm planning on getting an 8G Galant. As you see, I'm a member of TGC. My car? Well it will come soon. And yes. I'm Canadian, living in Montreal. Oh. And Mike (_mikeE) knows me personally. With that being said... I like the idea of a Canadian 6G meet. Although I personally do not own a 6g... I can provide information that could be needed for a meet IF there will be one in Montreal. But at the moment... it looks like I'm a little late seeing as how Valo666 has casted a voting. But I will tell you this: Montreal is quite a fair bilingual city. We have city-extensions, as I call them. There are Laval, St. Leonard, RDP, West Islands and Anjou. Possibly some more that I do not really know of. Most stores WILL speek english. You should not need to worry about hotels/motels and such. It's only the citizens themselves you need to worry for. As you know, Montreal is a large city. A large city means more drivers and more pedestrians. I do not know how it is in comparison to Sherbrooke but the drivers we have in Montreal are just nuttcases. On a side note, Montreal and some of it's "city-extensions" is, I believe, one of the only cities in Quebec where you CANNOT turn on a red light... so expect long line ups at a red light. Also. Most of the streets in Montreal will turn into one ways or are one ways themselves. Our traffic system is a little bit different from Ontario. The majority of street lights will inform you to go STRAIGHT and moments later you will be allowed to turn. As Mike just how many times I had to practically shout at him for turning or going straight when he's not supposed to. lol. There are also a lot of places to go and places to see. However as I mentioned there are a lot of nuttcased drivers. So most of the streets will be conjested. Downtown Montreal is not recommended for a drivethrough UNLESS you like waiting a bajillion years. Also our highway system itself can get quite conjested... and there tends to be some sort of accident every other day in the fall/winter season.. I'm not too sure of it in the spring/summer season. There are a quite a number of places that would hold for a nice meet.. also some roads where speeding is made easily. And I don't want to intrude in anyway as I may not quite be apart of the meet but.... Since you guys already started planning the location and voting upon it. Why not cast a voting [if editing for voting in this thread is possible]. And why not create a list of things you/we CAN do in the meet. There's quite a number of things to do... I have a few I could suggest on the top of my head. Paintballing (as Mike suggested) Gokarting Golfing Bowling Racetrack (located in St. Eustache) Plain ol' car meet with no event and just relax in a parking lot Bar-ing Clubbing Raving Restaurant-ing and of course BBQ-ing! Also there is a place in Montreal right off of the highway called "Orange Julep" aka "The Big Orange". There is oftenly a local car meet there every Thursday... and the food there is pretty good... the drink is even better. This is all in respect to Montreal and it's 'city-extensions'. I do not know what it is like in Sherbrooke. This post has been edited by TGC-Komodo: Dec 17, 2007 - 4:09 AM -------------------- '89 3.1L Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme
