read the ford press release, there's some ambiguity on the matter, but there's a pretty good chance that underneath all that fiberglass and turd polish, an auto GT is lurking.

i'm not going to speak for anyone else, but i hate mustangs. not because i drive a toyota and portend that all 'merican cars are crap, but on the basis that it is a toaster amongst cars, and a crappy one at that. i have never understood why anyone who graduated high school would want one. sure, if you buy the top-end model that struggles to get double digit mileage figures, you can tear it up in a straight line. if you want to hang out with a bunch of mulleted gas-huffers at your local dragstrip, that is.

the mustang has never handled proficiently, and thanks to the incessant use of a live axle, it never will. they're built on the premise that no matter what, somebody will buy them. you don't see bullitt-esque ploys for any other "sports" cars (i use "" because i am not convinced that the mustang is a sporting car in the same way a lotus elise is). people aren't going to be swayed into buying a miami vice edition ferrari. the cars are good enough on their own. just because you plunked down 30 grand for a tarted-up gt with no spoiler doesn't make you as "cool" as steve mcqueen.

my mom had a 65 mustang. according to her, it looked great but unfortunately wasn't a very good car. apparently not much has changed in over 40 years.

i just don't get it.

I cannot agree with you more, the mustang is nothing more than a fashion accesory, an icon yes, a sports coupe no.
