I am new here. I have a 1994 Celica ST with the 7AFE motor in it and automatic tranny. I am pretty sure that mine threw a rod, so I am wanting to do something to it to make it a little quicker. If anyone knows where some performance parts are for these, please lemme know. This thread, tho, is about a question. I had a guy on another thread tell me that you can put the 3SGTE head on a 5SFE block. I was wondering how expensive and how much pain is this to do? Also, what all would I need for this swap, as in timing belt, head gaskets, head studs, tranny, ECU, etc.etc...? I have been searching for performance parts for this motor since I got the car and have never ran across anything that can help it much. Please help!! Thanks

Harder than a 3SGTE swap. Not better than a regular 3SGE in n/a trim... not better than a regular 3SGTE in FI trim unless heavily modified. I think that about covers it. Do a search along the lines of 5SGE or 5SGTE. I've post a bit about it.
