I have a 17" but recently got some fat donuts for a more smooth ride... The whole wheel fits perfectly inside the wheel well, the only problem is when i turn the wheel to the extreme, the back of the wheel will rub the plastic coverings. I can live with that, should be no problem right?
So today, I was going South on Rosemead Blvd onto the 180 degree ramp onto the 60 East fwy. In the middle of the ramp, there's a slight dip. I was prolly going around 30 ~ 40 (regular speed) on the ramp through that dip, and I heard a nasty rubber VS plastic scratch noise coming from the front. Seems like the outer corner of the tire is rubbing the plastic during the 180 turn, with the wheel depressed running over the dip.... if I keep doing that, the tires are like rubbing on the wheel-well like a eraser huh? ![]() Is there something I should do? like take out the plastics or something? Or no way to avoid it, just go slower? I see some BMWs and G35s have their wheels perfectly fit into the wheel well, how the hell do they turn that without rubbing? -------------------- |

QUOTE(elvasoshexai @ Dec 14, 2007 - 4:21 PM) wat size tires did u get? 225/45-17 QUOTE(tim86 @ Dec 16, 2007 - 2:17 AM) mine rub every now and then and I have 215/45/17... but part of it is how low the car is... I wouldnt think they would be rubbing since you arnt lowered but try heating the plastic a bit Tein ST. Is 45 too wide? I have 45 too. QUOTE(k-weaver @ Dec 16, 2007 - 8:16 PM) This all seems very interesting to me, I'm runnin 225/40/18's just lowerd my ride and have yet to hear/feel any scraping...I do not think you should take out the plastic, it's there for a reason. Bending the plastic looks like your best/only option. I still do not understand why you would rub and I would not tho... Maybe that "45" is the problem I donno... right now I just try not to turn too much. And when I'm going street speed over a small dip, I just make sure my tires are straight, then there'll be no rub... hehe.. Bending the plastic might be my only option.. I just need to borrow one, or pay someone to do it. This post has been edited by tomazws: Dec 19, 2007 - 7:11 PM -------------------- |
