i was doing some research and noticed that pretty much the only difference between the beams 3w-ge and the 3s-gte is that the 3s-ge has the vvt-i and producing about 197 hp compared to the 3s-gte that has no vvt-i but a turbo putting it at about 225hp. does anyone know of anyone that has tries to take the vvt-i head off from the beams motor and put it on the 3s-gte

![]() QUOTE(playr158 @ Dec 20, 2007 - 4:32 PM) you can boost a high CR motor (New celicas for that matter as well) high compression helps with off boost driveability, as well as you make the "same" amount of power as a lower CR motor with a lower boost level on a high CR motor Its all in the ability to tune your timing and fuel. In my build i'll actually be raising the CR of the 3sgte to ~9.5:1 almost. Don't forget a water/meth or alchohol injection for added cooling protection... QUOTE(azian_advanced @ Dec 20, 2007 - 11:05 PM) well, i remember reading about it at some point a couple of years ago.. ok i found two. but the one i had in mind is not one of these two, i can't find it. anyway..... 1. HKS SS-III Celica Turbo ![]() Uh, not seeing the vvt-i control on the exposed cam gears so I would say this either is not the beams motor or the vvti was removed. IMO, turbo the beams, run a high octane, and get some sort of water/meth injection. Going through the hassel to swap heads wouldn't be worth it. Now if you were to place the head on the 5s block and make it a stroker motor then that would be fun.
