Hi, I found 4 pistons in perfect shape out from a 1991 AE92 4AGZE engine.
I heard many times that the 4AGZE pistons fit the 7AFE (the bore is the same). my questions are: will I need little mods to the upper rod hole to fit the pistons? the CR rated for those pistons is 8.9:1....now...with the 7AFE head, will this CR be the same? Thanks to all! |

You're probably going to have to check with a machine shop to be sure. If you take all your parts to them they would be able to tell you. The pistons may not work if the wristpin hole is in a different location than the 7a pistons. Assuming the wrist pin is in the same location and you're using a stock 7a head gasket then yes, you will have the benefit of the lower compression ratio given by the gze pistons.
Forged pistons do expand more than cast pistons therefore they have to run larger piston to cylinder clearances and they should be warmed up before running hard. |
