i want to bartend but you have to be 21 to serve the drinks rite? can i be a barback? i'm planning on going to a school in my area but i havent gone in to talk to them yet. i like mixing drinks and its pretty much what i do when i throw parties. any1 have any experience in this area n maybe have a couple of suggestions?

Most, and almost all states it is ok for you to be a "bartender" if the establishment or booth you are working is only serving beer you can be 18, if there is liquor then most of the time you have to be 21. Good idea, if you want to do this and like it(makes great money, just choose your venues well) think about getting your T.I.P.S. cert, in the next little bit it is actually going to be a requirement. Honestly, just take the tips cert course and don't take the class. Get some quality speed pourers(get the rubber ones, not the metal cool ones cause the metal ones leave too much variance and plain suck if you get busy cause you have to kinda monitor them) get a double sided measuring cup(the little bartending ones that count ounces) and practice with an empty liquor bottle that you fill up with water. Start learning what your counts should be and learn your drinks to a tee(along with the popular and semi popular variations). In bartending school it's just colored water and what I've described and then how they like you to learn their way of how your well should be organized. Get your speed up on making "drinks". Then try for a goal of 12-15(a variety of the different kinds) correctly made drinks in 5 min or less. Then build up and memorize the drinks and their measurments.
