Well I have a shop that has experience in these types of swaps. Now what I wanna know is what if they can only find the jspec mr2 3sgte engine, is it still basically the same as the celica one? Ill need a wiring harness, the intercooler of the 3rd gen 3sgte will fit under the stock hood, exhaust need to be altered to line up. Should I just do the front mount intercooler right away? how much will it run for that? is there room up front for one?

Also does the 3sgte tranny that comes on the engine line up with the celica? Because one possible source for the engine comes with ecu and tranny, and is there a difference between the mr2 and celica 3sgte tranny?

Basically what Im looking to do is go in steps.

step1- basic engine swap (intercooler?)

step2-axles

step3-larger exhaust (2.5")

step4-intercool ( if not done yet)

step5-solara tranny and clutch(if needed)

step6-enhance(boost controller, bigger turbo, who knows what)

Its been a while since I did the research for this but since its getting closer to actually having the swap done then I need to refresh myself. And I know Im going to get "well get a front clip" but unless I can find one for like 2500CND then I doubt it. I have to see what the shop Im taking it too has to offer, they said they would check with there suppliers so maybe I can get a deal on the engine.

The motor is still the same, but you will still need to source (about 14) different major parts. Yes, you will need a wiring harness and IC just to name a few...

The E series tranny that comes with the MR2 will work... if you get a GT-FOUR, it will work, but modifications are needed (I do not recommend using the GT-FOUR tranny).

The difference b/w the MR2 and Celica tranny is that one is setup for RWD and the other for AWD, respectively.

Before you actually start the work on your car, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you gather all the parts needed for the swap... It can (and will) take time to source parts... especially from Japan, so to prevent downtime, get everything together first.

Thakns man, Ive looked around for lists of parts and what not but havent come across much.

From what Ive seen the main hurtle is the wiring and I found a place to do it. So now I need to find these parts, I know Im going to need a wiring harness from a mr2. The engine I might get will be from a jspec mr2 and comes with tranny and ecu, I could also inquire to them about a wiring harness to come with it. So heres my list so far:

Engine (osakajdmmotors.com)
ecu (with engine, if it will work)
Tranny (with engine)
Clutch (act from where ever)
Wiring Harness (maybe with engine)
better axles (dont know yet?)
intercooler (dont know yet?)
exhaust (Im sure they will take care of that)
timing belt (might aswell when the engine is out)
fluids
gaskets?
Anything to add guys?

Im having a shop do the swap, Im sure they will know of things that should be looked at and changed. Will the mr2 ecu work with the celica? Just not sure if fwd effects it?

I will have about 4000-5000CND right off the bat to work with so I only wanna do essentil things at first, so if I can use my stock axles at first then Ill just take it easy till I get the new ones. If the clutch that comes with the engine is ok then Ill wait on that too, I suppose Ill have to figure some of this out a week or 2 before the actual swap.

How about this can the intercooler that comes on the engine be relocated? Just add some pipes and put it where it wont get heat soaked??
